Historic Cane Hill invites the community to join us for an opening reception and awards ceremony for the 5th Annual Arkansas High School Artists Competition and Exhibition. The exhibition is sponsored by Historic Cane Hill, Inc. in partnership with the University of Arkansas School of Art. The gallery selections will exclusively feature work from Arkansas high school students currently in the 10th-12th grades.
The Grand Prize, granted to an Arkansas high school senior, is the Historic Cane Hill Young Artist Scholarship, a one-year tuition and fees scholarship to attend the University of Arkansas School of Art for the 2024-2025 academic year valued at $10,000. Additional awards will also be granted.
A jury selected from arts organizations across the state reviewed works submitted by 128 high school students. The submissions were scored and curated to form this year’s gallery exhibit. Due to the high volume of submissions compared to gallery space, a virtual exhibition will also be posted.
The in-person reception ceremony for the artists, educators, their families, and friends will take place on Saturday, November 18 at 2 p.m. at Historic Cane Hill College. The grand prize Historic Cane Hill Young Artist Scholarship winner will be announced at that time.
This is opportunity is often the first for young Arkansas artists to showcase their work, talent, and determination to create, despite all obstacles.
The exhibition will be open until January 20, 2024. Gallery hours are Thursday-Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.
