About

Niloak & Beyond features rare and stunning examples of Niloak’s iconic Swirled Missionware art pottery presented alongside examples of creations by potteries around the country inspired by the innovative Niloak swirl design. This is the first exhibition in the country to feature this approach to American art pottery.

Niloak & Beyond was developed in collaboration with the Community Creative Center and numerous institutions and private collectors. David Edwin Gifford, historian, noted Niloak scholar, and author of The Collector’s Encyclopedia of Niloak, served as the co-curator for the exhibition.

The exhibition features swirl pottery by Evans, Ozark, Skag, Denver’s White, Dickota’s Badlands, Charlie Stehm’s Ozark Pottery, Houghton & Dalton, Spruce Pine’s Muscle Shoals and Marie, Silver Springs, and others, along with historic photographs and memorabilia.
