About
Niloak & Beyond will feature rare and stunning examples of Niloak’s iconic Swirled Missionware art pottery presented alongside examples of creations by potteries around the country inspired by the innovative Niloak swirl design. This will be the first exhibition in the country to feature this approach to American art pottery.
The exhibition will be launched in conjunction with the Second Annual Arkansas Pottery Festival, May 5th – 7th, hosted by the Community Creative Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Niloak & Beyond is being developed in collaboration with the Community Creative Center, the Historic Arkansas Museum, the University of Arkansas Museum, the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History, and numerous private collectors. David Edwin Gifford, historian, noted Niloak scholar, and author of The Collector’s Encyclopedia of Niloak, will serve as the co-curator for the exhibition.
The exhibition will feature swirl pottery by Evans, Ozark, Skag, Denver’s White, Dickota’s Badlands, Charlie Stehm’s Ozark Pottery, Houghton & Dalton, Spruce Pine’s Muscle Shoals and Marie, Silver Springs, and others, along with historic photographs and memorabilia.
