Habitat Restoration Tour

The day kicked off with a Quail Habitat Restoration Tour of privately held land in Cane Hill to teach landowners and the general public about habitat restoration and management work to benefit quail, turkey, deer, grassland songbirds, and pollinating insects. Guests were led on a guided tour by land management experts, including Arkansas Game and Fish wildlife biologists.

Arkansas State Quail & Turkey Stamp Art Exhibition:

In collaboration with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission (AGFC) and the Arkansas Game and Fish Foundation (AGFF), Historic Cane Hill, Inc. will host an exhibition for the Arkansas State Quail and Turkey Stamp Art Competition at the Historic Cane Hill Gallery through April 27. The artwork from this national competition portrays the northern bobwhite quail and eastern wild turkey, two species important to the natural heritage of the Ozarks region. The exhibition features selections from the juried competition, including winning entries for each category, which will appear on the 2024 Quail and Turkey stamps issued by the Arkansas Game & Fish Commission. This year’s exhibition includes artists from 14 states and 10 towns in Arkansas.

Grand Prize – Chris Goins of Sheridan, AR for “Morning in the Ouachita Mountains”
2nd Place – Rabecca Signoriello of Kennerdell PA for “Fall”
3rd Place – Ray Easton of Webster, NY for “Daybreak”

Inaugural Quail Dinner:

Guests enjoyed a four-course meal prepared by award-winning chef Case Dighero. The dinner took place on the banks of the scenic Jordan Creek in Cane Hill, Arkansas.

About the Chef:

Case Dighero is an influential component of the culinary community of Arkansas and the High South. He owns the project-based company Edible Culture, which focuses on culinary insights through the lenses of writing, chef work, and entertainment. He is also the food editor of Citiscapes Metro Monthly magazine. Dighero served as Director of Culinary at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, where he helped define the High South philosophy for the museum’s culinary program. Dighero has hosted several popular public programs, including Wednesday Over Water (WOW), DISH (featuring women in cuisine), and the CR(EAT)E Food Series. He has partnerships with Appleseeds Teaching Garden and the James Beard Foundation and is on the board of directors for the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks.
