Public Day at the Wilbur Kiln Dig

This summer, the University of Arkansas is setting up its archeology Field School at the J.D. Wilbur Pottery Factory site! On Saturday, July 15, 9 am to 1 pm, we will hold a public day for anyone who wants to learn more about the material history of the site and the methods of excavation employed by the Arkansas Archeological Survey and University of Arkansas archeologists. It will be a chance to observe archeologists onsite as they work on a significant Arkansas dig. ARAS staff and field school students will guide visitors through the process and explain the significance of the dig, including some big discoveries! Lawrence McElroy will also offer tours of the historic site every hour on the half-hour (9:30, 10:30, 11:30, and 12:30).

If you plan to attend, you must pre-register by filling out the form below. More information regarding directions, parking, and guidelines will be sent to you upon registration. The event is open to all ages, and attendance and registration are both free.
