2026 Cane Hill After Dark: Man Made Monsters

It’s Spooky Season Again!

Enjoy a thrill at the 5th annual Cane Hill After Dark

Explore the spookier side of the Ozarks on Friday, Oct. 23, as Historic Cane Hill hosts the 5th annual Cane Hill After Dark.

This year’s guest speaker is author Andrea Rogers. Andrea is a member of Cherokee Nation whose fictional works Man Made Monsters and Death in the Tallgrass feature horror and suspense interwoven with Cherokee history and culture. Man Made Monsters received six starred reviews and won the Walter Dean Myers Award for Young Adult fiction. Just released September 15, Death in the Tallgrass is described as “a story as sharp as the unseen blade and as soft as a baby chick, impossible to let go.”

Andrea’s work is both contemporary and deeply rooted in Tsalagi stories and Cherokee history. Through historical fiction, she reimagines and engages with these traditions. Her work is, also, full of monsters.

Tickets are $5, or FREE for Historic Cane Hill Members.

The event takes place outdoors at the Pyeatte stage, weather permitting.
Some seating will be provided. Guests are encouraged to bring their own folding chairs. Light snacks will be provided.

Copies of Man Made Monsters and the newly released Death in the Tallgrass will be available for purchase at $20 each and Andrea will sign books after her talk.
